Hiking Trails

We have countless trails throughout the property. We recently created one main trail. It is 1.5 miles long. It loops around the horse corrals, through the woods, across the base of the hillside, around the lake and back to the Inn. While on your hike you can see plenty of wildlife if you're lucky, including wild turkeys, fox, deer, owls, beavers, hawks and even eagles. When weather permits, the trail is suitable for walking, snowshoeing, cross- country skiing, running, and biking.

Swimming

Cool off in the lake in the summer. We have a great dock for the kids to enjoy. Big enough for everyone to really kick back and have a fun time.

Canoeing

Paddle to your heart's content and take a dip on hot summer days.

Fishing

You can fish on the small lake on the Inn's property which is open to guests only. And, there are outstanding trout streams within a short drive that you may want to check out: Allegheny Reservoir, Allegheny River, Brokenstraw Creek or Chapman Lake. Each one is unique and wonderful.

Off-Site Activities

Nearby the Galloping Inn there is a lot to do, golfing and ziplining, canoeing and boating, hunting and skiing. There is something for everyone.

Ziplining

There is nothing more exhilarating than ziplining. Fun for everyone in the family, give it a try at Soaring Eagle Ziplinig

Golfing

There are quite a few courses near the Inn. Two guest favorites are North Hills Municipal Golf Course in Corry, and Jackson Valley Golf Course in Warren. Both are wonderful courses. Or if you want to take the kids to a driving range or Putt Putt, try Lakewood Golf Center.

Canoeing & Boating

On a hot summer day, consider renting a boat and spend the afternoon cruising the waters of the Kinzua Reservoir. Or if you'd like to get a little closer to the water, you can take a canoe trip down the Allegheny with Allegheny Outfitters.

We also have a canoe on the property for guest use on the lake.

Off-site Fly Fishing

There's great fishing close by. Within a short distance there are lakes, rivers and streams where you can catch trout and bass and other regional species. We have relationships with a number of charter services. If you are planning a trip and will need a guide, make plans in advance, good guides are in high demand. Our friend Mike Laskowski owns Oil Creek Outfitters and he is a talented fly fisherman and a tremendous resource. We also recommend checking out: Allegheny Resevoir, Allegheny River, Brokenstraw Creek, Chapman Lake or Oil Creek.

Hunting

There are state game lands are within five minutes of the Galloping Inn. The largest and closest is right behind our property known as State Game Lands 143. It offers more than 70,000 acres for sportsmen to explore. The two primary species people hunt for are deer and turkey. The Pennsylvania Game Commission provides a topographical map along with hunting regulations and seasons.

Skiing & Snowmobiling

Skiing is available nearby at Peek'n Peak. Every kind of trail imaginable is available for all levels of skiers.

And, if it snowmobiling you're interested in, the Galloping Inn is located directly on the PA Snowmobile Trails. Leisure Time Power Sports is located on RT 6 just 7 miles from the Inn and they offer sales and service of snowmobiles and more.
