Welcome to the Galloping Inn located in the heart of beautiful historic Northwestern Pennsylvania on Scenic Route 6. We offer the charm of a Bed and Breakfast but with much more space and privacy. We are a unique by-owner rental home that caters to small groups and families.
Our property is a beautifully restored farmhouse and cabin located on a horse farm with over 100 acres.
Building this place has been a labor of love. Our vision for it has always centered around personal fulfillment. It's really very special. The farmhouse dates back to the mid 1800s and is one of the oldest structures in the area. When we restored it, we did so with an eye for preservation, style and modern comfort.
People have come here for many years to get out of one's element and escape the routine…to enjoy a stress free experience. The Galloping Inn is a freestanding destination, meaning you can do just about any thing you want. It's very private and there is lots of space, so if you share the place with other friends or families, you'll have plenty of room to yourself. You can play some music, go for a hike, cook a big meal, ride horses…whatever makes you happy. The thing everyone seems to appreciate most is the fresh air, freedom and comfortable warmth highlighted by our selection of high quality bedding.
While staying at the property, you can hike the trails or traverse them on horseback (link). We offer trail riding spring through fall. In winter, guests enjoy cross country skiing and snow shoeing.
The grounds span over one hundred private acres of rolling hills, brooks and forests. Trails cut through hillsides, giant boulder fields, pines, cherry trees and birch stands. Wildlife is abundant, as we do not hunt on the grounds. It is not rare to see wild turkey, bald eagles, deer, grouse, porcupine, raccoons, red fox, coyote and even the occasional black bear.
There are two large decks off the back of the house where you can take in the evening sun. The yard is large enough for your choice of outdoor games.
If you feel like doing some exploring, there are lots of things to do nearby. Within a 30 minute drive you can rent boats and cruise the waters of the Alleghany Reservoir, visit the charm of Chautauqua, enjoy golfing the undulated hills of many great courses including Peek 'n Peak. You can also fish, hunt, canoe, ski, hike, bike, gamble at nearby casinos or just about anything you like to do outdoors. Some just like to explore the nearby historic towns such as Findley Lake, Sugar Grove, or Warren - charming Americana at its best.
Feel free to call us if you'd like to know more about the place.
The Galloping Inn is a historic farmhouse built in approximately 1860 by Jared Boardman. Mr. Boardman acquired the property from Eli Wyman in 1843. Much of the original structure remains. The location has a very rich history.
Today, the great room features a large stone fireplace to warm up by after a day outdoors. There's also a solid cherry wood bar…the perfect place to enjoy an evening cocktail (bring your own) and recap the day's events. The adjacent full kitchen provides plenty of room to cook a big meal.
Though it may be an old farmhouse, we have Dish Network at the property and a entertainment area upstairs which serves as great place to wind down – especially good for kids.
There are three bedrooms in the farmhouse. Two have king beds and a private bath. The third has two double beds and a half bath.
The farmhouse rooms are the Parlor, The Roost, and The Suite. A stone's throw from the farmhouse is the Cabin.
We offer the property for private rentals year round.
